DAY 1: Quito – Papallacta - Cosanga
At the east side of Quito is the amazon, drive along the road and observe the changing nature from the highlands towards the cloud forest just before the jungle area starts. At Papallacta, make a short hike and find out about local flora and fauna.
Let the pristine nature of this area embrace you, with its unique flora and fauna, while you cross the Cayambe - Coca Ecological Reserve. Take pictures of the nature which surrounds you and enjoy the overnight at San Isidro Reserve.
DAY 2: Cosanga - Cotundo
After breakfast, continue your adventure to the Sacred Valley; stroll around the Huasquila Lodge area, sharpen your senses while listening to the sounds of nature. At night, visit the Quichua community of this area, learn about their customs and share with them their traditions and tales.
DAY 3: Cotundo – the Sacred Valley
Immerse yourself into the Temple Cavern; the first woman chaman is buried here. Discover some Petroglifos; in the afternoon; learn about your dreams with the Guayusa tour. Spoil yourself with the Chocolate session.
DAY 4: Cotundo – The Cacao Village – Puyo
Visit the Community of Santa Rita, taste the quality of good chocolate, which is produced in this area. Continue your trip until Puyo; enjoy the fauna at Fatima zoo-breeding center.
DAY 5: Puyo – Baños
After breakfast, you make a short stopover at the Ethnobotanic Park OMAERE. Learn as much as you can about local medicinal plants. Continue your trip to the amazing Pailón del Diablo waterfall, unlock your senses with the sound of the water and the songs of the birds.
DAY 6: Baños – Riobamba
In the morning pay a visit to the city of Baños de Agua Santa, taste the local sweets. After lunch, reach to the city of Riobamba. Visit the Museum of the Cloister of the Nuns of the Conception, and drink the special herbal tea, prepared by the Mother Abbess. Spend the night in a nice hotel in town.
DAY 7: Riobamba – Alausí – Ingapirca Ruins – Cuenca
Early in the morning, take the train in Alausí station, which takes you along a unique route in the world where the train descends and climbs in zigzag the famous Naríz del Diablo (The Devil’s Nose). An impressive masterpiece due to its type of construction, the difficulty of the route and the whole history, which involves the surrounding parishes.
As next, visit the Ingapirca Ruins, jaunt among historic ruins, and learn about the Incas who lived there. Before sunset, reach the colonial city of Cuenca and spend the night in a colonial hotel.
DAY 8: Cuenca and surroundings
Explore the colonial city of Cuenca, its Spanish architecture and enjoy the narrow streets. In the afternoon, drive to the towns around Cuenca, visit Chordeleg and get to see the finest silver jewelry, continue to Gualaceo where you visit the local market, and before night return to Cuenca.
DAY 9: Cuenca – Manglares Churute - Guayaquil
Enjoy your last breakfast before continuing your trip towards the coast. On route stop by the viewpoint to El Cajas National Park. During the tour, observe how the flora and the climate change from the highlands until the coast, while you drive from 4600 to 800 masl. Admire the great banana, rice, pineapple, sugarcane, and cacao plantations along the road. End your tour by reaching the port city of Guayaquil.
DAY 10: Guayaquil
After breakfast, say good-bye to one of the most bio-diverse countries over the world.
